Explanation
BACKGROUND: The City entered into a lease agreement with Walnut Builders, Inc. dba PLM Company on October 9, 2007, for the benefit of the Department of Public Health's WIC program, in a building located at 3933 Livingston Avenue. The lease included three one-year renewal options, the last of which was exercised for the period October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011. This building is owned by PLM Company, an Ohio general partnership, and the Lessor had been named as "Walnut Builders, Inc., dba PLM Company".
The current contract, EL011056, for the lease agreement was established using FIN 31-1416454, which is the FIN for Walnut Builders, Inc. However, the general partner of PLM Company, Mary Jo Vilardo, has requested that payments henceforth be made to Mary Jo Vilardo dba PLM Company, requiring a lease amendment establishing a new name for the lessor (and payee). The Federal Identification Number and Vendor Registration Number for Mary Jo Vilardo, dba PLM Company, is 28-4543851 with Vendor Registration active through April 29, 2013.
This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Finance and Management to execute a lease amendment recognizing the new name of the lessor as Mary Jo Vilardo, dba PLM Company, and to authorize the Department of Public Health to accept a change in Federal Identification Number relating to a contract between the City of Columbus, Department of Public Health, and Mary Jo Vilardo dba PLM Company.
In addition, since the current lease is the final renewal term authorized under the existing lease, the lease amendment will also add three additional one-year renewal terms to the agreement.
This ordinance is submitted as an emergency so as to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible.
FISCAL IMPACT: This legislation will not alter the balance of the existing contract covered by this ordinance and there will be no fiscal impact.
