WHEREAS, Randy Quickel currently serves as the president of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1059, a role he first assumed in 2010; and
WHEREAS, under his leadership, UFCW Local 1059 has proudly represented the workers of Central Ohio, fighting for fair wages and working conditions for hardworking community members that keep our city running; and
WHEREAS, Randy’s stewardship has been defined by an increased use and awareness of technology to benefit working people and ensuring continued support and safe working environments for essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, Randy’s leadership has long been appreciated and valued across the City of Columbus, and this award is a well-earned recognition of his commitment to working people; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council celebrates Randy Quickel and congratulates him on receiving the 2023 John T. Green II Labor Award at the 34th Annual Labor Salute to Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Brunch.
