Explanation
1. BACKGROUND:
This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to execute a planned contract modification with M-E Companies, Inc. to the Division of Sewerage and Drainage's General Engineering Services Contract. This modification will increase the funding for the contract services by an additional $145,000.00. These services will provide engineering design services associated with the Scioto River West Floodwall Project, and to address some localized stormwater drainage problems on the west side of the City of Columbus. The subsequent construction phase will be procured using the competitive bidding provisions of the Columbus City Codes.
2. CONTRACT MODIFICATION INFORMATION:
This contract was originally procured for purposes of providing "blanket" type of service contracts to augment engineering personnel within the Sewer System Engineering Section (SSES) of the Division of Sewerage and Drainage on an as-authorized, as needed basis. The contract was established with fixed direct labor, overhead and fixed fee rates for the period of 2006 through 2009. This ordinance will authorize the establishment of $145,000.00 in additional funding for the aforementioned services. Under the terms of this contract, the City has the right to contract for addtional services to fulfill emergency capital improvements or smaller scoped projects, subject to the approval of a contract modification by City Council to provide general engineering services for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage. The rates established within this contract will remain in force throughout the life of the contract.
