To recognize and honor the Global Humanitarian Aid & Social Development Inc. for their indispensable community work.

Body

 

WHEREAS, The Global Humanitarian Aid & Social Development Inc. is a nonprofit based in Central Ohio that empowers underserved populations through the provision of critical services, resources, and development opportunities. Founded by Somali-Americans in 2020, GHASD cultivates long-term resilience and self-sufficiency for New American families locally, while simultaneously providing aid and sustainable development to parts of East Africa.

WHEREAS, GHASD’s services include housing recovery, after-school programs, youth workforce development, humanitarian aid, among many others. These programs are carried out by both staff and volunteers, who dedicate themselves to GHASD’s mission.

WHEREAS, through GHASD’s initiatives, they have made significant, positive impacts on social issues including homelessness, educational inequalities, and unemployment within the refugee and New American populations in Central Ohio.

WHEREAS, local partnerships and engagement with community organizations have helped to further enable the Global Humanitarian Aid & Social Development Inc. to create vital pathways toward community integration and economic independence, continuously fostering strength, unity, and prosperity.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council proclaims, recognizes, and celebrates the Global Humanitarian Aid & Social Development Inc. staff and volunteers for their unifying community work.
