Explanation

The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the Director of Finance and Management to enter into contract with Byers Chevrolet for the purchase of two (2) Single Axle Dump Trucks for the Division of Power and Water, Distribution Maintenance. These vehicles will be used for various rehabilitation and maintenance projects for the division. The Division of Power and Water budgeted $125,000.00 for this purchase. The low bid was Byers Chevrolet at $167,074.00. They do not have MBE/FBE status.


The Purchasing Office opened formal bids on October 12, 2006. Seven (7) bids were received. A tabulation of those bids is as follows:

1. Byers Chevrolet $83,537.00
2. White-Allen Chevrolet $82,900.00 (low bid before local vendor discount/credit)
3. Fyda Freightliner $83,638.00
4. Bob McDorman Chevrolet $84,667.00
5. Graham Ford Inc. $84,805.00
6. Center City International $85,656.00
7. Kinstle Sterling Western Star $86,092.00

SUPPLIER: Byers Chevrolet (31-4139860)

Fiscal Impact: The Division of Water budgeted $125,000.00 for this purchase.

$0 was expended for Single Axle Dump Trucks during 2005.
$0 was expended for Single Axle Dump Trucks during 2004.
