Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with Southfield Community Missionary Baptist Church in support of the Southfield Cares program.
Southfield Cares is dedicated to changing lives, restoring families and uniting the community. The organization provides youth mentorship programs for ages 3-18, job placement, computer training, counseling and conflict resolution, music classes and arts. Southfield Cares leverages social media, its website, and door to door engagement to share program information with Southfield residents.
This funding is intended to support heightened youth engagement during the summer months.
Fiscal Impact: Funding is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund.
Emergency action is requested in order to immediately provide Southfield Cares with the funding necessary to initiate summer youth programming.

To authorize the City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with Southfield Community Missionary Baptist Church in support of the Southfield Cares program; to authorize an appropriation and expenditure within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund; and to declare an emergency. ($10,000.00)

WHEREAS, Southfield Cares is dedicated to changing lives, restoring families and uniting the community; and
WHEREAS, the organization provides youth mentorship programs for ages 3-18, job placement, computer training, counseling and conflict resolution, music classes and arts; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operations of the City Clerk in that it is immediately necessary to authorize a grant agreement to provide Southfield Cares with the funding necessary to initiate summer youth program; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized to enter into a grant agreement with Southfield Community Missionary Baptist Church in support of the Southfield Cares program.
