WHEREAS, over the past 36 years, Robert B. Levering has served under the administrations of City Attorneys Gregory S. Lashutka (1978-1985), Ronald J. O’Brien (1986-1997), Janet E. Jackson (1997-2002), and Richard C. Pfeiffer, Jr. (2002-Present); and

WHEREAS, Mr. Levering received his Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1975 and his Juris Doctor degree from Capital University in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Levering, in varying capacities, with a calm and reassuring disposition, has demonstrated legal expertise and exceptional skill in the performance of his duties and responsibilities; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Levering joined the Columbus City Attorney’s Office, Prosecutor Division in 1978 with the Night Prosecutor Mediation Program and then became a Legal Intake Counselor in March 1980; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Levering was appointed as an Assistant City Prosecutor on February 23, 1981 and was included in the courtroom rotations as a member of the trial staff; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Levering, for multiple terms, mentored law students as the Director of Intake, and provided them with an invaluable opportunity to acquire practical real-world experience; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Levering, while occupying the position of First Assistant City Prosecutor, guided the trial staff with steadfast leadership, in-depth knowledge of the law, and honed trial skills; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Levering has most recently worked as the assigned 4-C Arraignment Court prosecutor and fulfilled the role of Team Supervisor; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Levering has consistently set a high standard for professionalism and competency in the practice of law and public service and has selflessly shared his wealth of institutional knowledge and experience over the years with countless prosecutors, police officers, administrative staff, and courthouse personnel, an...
