BACKGROUND This ordinance authorizes the Fire Chief to accept a concrete mixer chamber from Smith Equipment Company for use by the Bomb Squad. The Bomb Squad will use this chamber to burn confiscated ammunition and fireworks in an EPA compliant fashion.

WHEREAS, Smith Equipment Company has offered to donate a concrete mixer chamber to the Fire Division's Bomb Squad for use in destroying confiscated ammunition and fireworks; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has approved the acceptance of the aforementioned concrete mixer chamber; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire, in that it is immediately necessary to accept said donation for the aforementioned purpose for the preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; Now, Therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
Section 1. That the Fire Chief be and is hereby authorized and directed to accept from Smith Equipment Company and concrete mixer chamber for use by the Bomb Squad to destroy confiscated ammunition and fireworks in EPA compliant fashion.
Section 2. That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
