Explanation

BACKGROUND: The Columbus Health Department has received a $200 grant award from the Columbus Foundation to help fund innovative "green" initiatives. The grant is from the Teresa Long and Thomas Denune Family Fund of the Columbus Foundation and is intended to honor 175 years of Columbus Public Health's excellence in care and protection. The purpose of this legislation is to accept and appropriate these funds for the period May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2009.

This ordinance is submitted as an emergency so as to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial postings promote accurate accounting and financial management.


FISCAL IMPACT: The Innovative "Green" Initiatives Grant is intended to enhance or supplement the efforts of Health Department programs. This grant will not generate any revenues and does not require match monies from the City.

WHEREAS, $200 in grant funds have been made available from the Teresa Long and Thomas Denune Family Fund of the Columbus Foundation to honor 175 years of Columbus Public Health's excellence in care and protection, for the period May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2009; and,

WHEREAS, it is necessary to accept and appropriate these funds from the Columbus Foundation for the support of innovative "green" initiatives at Columbus Public Health; and,
