To Congratulate Myles Wilson as the 2026 George Meany Youth Services Award Recipient
Body
WHEREAS, the George Meany Awards Banquet, the largest labor recognition of its kind in the country, is a night for the Central Ohio AFL-CIO and the United Way Community Services Department to recognize local business and labor leaders who have given outstanding volunteer service to the community; and
WHEREAS, the George Meany Awards, named after the late George Meany, former President of the national AFL-CIO, are presented by the Central Ohio AFL-CIO to a labor person for outstanding leadership and support of health, welfare, and recreation services to the Central Ohio Community; and
WHEREAS, Myles Wilson is a senior at Harvest Preparatory School and has been committed to giving back to his community in many ways; and
WHEREAS, despite Myles’ many involvements including the honors society, STEM Club, chess club and track, he has been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA while also extending this aptitude for service to the broader Canal Winchester community; and
WHEREAS, Myles has participated in ongoing volunteer efforts since September 2025 and was recognized by St. Stephan’s Community House for his dedication, logging nearly 100 volunteer hours; and
WHEREAS, after high school, Myles plans to attend the University of Cincinnati to study Mechanical Engineering, and will undoubtedly pave a path for service to take form in multiple ways as he has consistently shown; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That we hereby congratulate Myles Wilson as the 2026 George Meany Youth Services Award recipient.
