To thank Ramona R. Reyes for seventeen years of historic and distinguished service to the Columbus City Schools Board of Education and to recognize her lasting impact as a trailblazer and advocate for students, families, and community empowerment

WHEREAS, Ramona R. Reyes was elected to the Columbus City Schools Board of Education in November 2008 and began her dedicated service in January 2009, becoming the first Hispanic member ever elected to serve on the Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, throughout her extraordinary seventeen years of service, Ms. Reyes has been a trailblazer, advocate, and unwavering champion for students, families, and communities across the City of Columbus, consistently uplifting and empowering voices that have historically been underrepresented in public education; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Reyes has served in numerous leadership capacities, including as Chair of the Public Engagement Committee, where she spearheaded initiatives that strengthened district relationships with families, expanded cultural celebrations, enhanced communication, and fostered meaningful and authentic community engagement; and
WHEREAS, her expansive professional and civic work-spanning nonprofit leadership, corporate engagement, cultural advocacy, and community service-has deeply informed and enriched her approach to Board leadership, contributing significantly to the advancement of equity, access, and opportunity throughout Columbus City Schools; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Reyes’s long and distinguished record of public service reflects her steadfast dedication to educational excellence, student success, family empowerment, and the uplift of communities across our great city; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby thank Ramona R. Reyes for her leadership, service, and many contributions to the Columbus City Schools community and wishes her continued success in all future endeavors.
