Explanation

The Recreation and Parks Department ("City") is engaged in the development of Hanford Park located in the vicinity of Kent Avenue and South Nelson Road. The City desires to make several improvements to the park, including increasing its size by acquiring certain vacant lots adjacent to the park. The following is an ordinance to authorize the City Attorney to acquire fee simple title and lesser interests, contract for professional services, and to expend the monies for payment of acquisition costs in connection with the Hanford Village Property Acquisition Project.

Fiscal Impact: The Department of Recreation and Parks has determined funding for this project will be from the Recreation and Parks Bond Fund.



Emergency Justification: Emergency action is requested to allow acquisition activities to begin as soon as possible thereby allowing for the project to maintain its completion schedule.

WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks Department ("City") is engaged in the development of Hanford Park located in the vicinity of Kent Avenue and South Nelson Road; and

WHEREAS, the City desires to make several improvements to the park, including increasing its size by acquiring certain vacant lots adjacent to park; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks, in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the City Attorney to acquire fee simple title and lesser interests in and to certain parcels of real estate and to contract for the aforesaid professional services necessary in connection with said project for the preservation of the public health, peace, property and ...
