Explanation

This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to modify and increase a contract for Security Guard Services for the Sewer Maintenance Operations Center within the Division of Sewerage and Drainage with U.S. Security Associates Incorporated.

Security Guard Services are required at the Sewer Maintenance Operations Center twenty-four (24) hours per day. The contract allows for five (5) extensions and the Division of Sewerage and Drainage is currently in the fifth and final year. Furthermore, the contract allows an increase of 4% increase each year. Part of the 2004 appropriations had to be used to cover the payment of 2003 invoices and the Division of Sewerage and Drainage is establishing enough funding to cover the contract through it's expiration date of May 2005. The amount being requested by the Division of Sewerage and Drainage is $128,000.00, for a total contract obligation of $765,800.00.

FISCAL IMPACT: $128,000.00 is needed and budgeted for this modification.

Emergency legislation is being requested so that there is not an interruption in the security services provided to the Sewer Maintenance Operations Center.
