Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Division of Water, Department of Public Utilities entered into a contract with ms consultants, inc. for professional engineering services for Water Main Rehabilitation-Group 4 Water Line Improvements on February 8, 1999 under the authority of Ordinance No. 2917-98 passed November 23, 1998. This modification provides for additional engineering services needed to develop and incorporate a Maintenance of Traffic Plan into the proposed water line construction plans for all sites included in this project.

EXPLANATION:
1. Amount of additional funds to be expended under this modification: $10,000.00
2. Reasons additional goods/services could not be foreseen initially: This contract modification is for additional engineering services needed to develop and incorporate a Maintenance of Traffic Plan into the proposed water line construction plans for all sites included in this project.
3. Reasons other procurement processes are not used: The existing consultant is uniquely familiar with the project and could therefore provide excellent service on the requested task.
4. How cost of Modification was determined: The rates were negotiated between the Consultant and the City of Columbus as documented by the Consultant's quotation letter.
