Background

This ordinance is necessary to establish a blanket certificate of funds to be expended from the General Fund for the administration of upcoming uniformed examinations of the Department of Safety.

FISCAL IMPACT: Sufficient funds are available for this blanket certificate amount of $78,000.00 in the Civil Service Commission's 2004 budget.


Title

To authorize the Director of the Civil Service Commission to establish a blanket certificate for the purpose of administering the uniformed examinations of the Department of Safety, and to authorize the expenditure of $78,000.00 from the General Fund. ($78,000.00)

Body

WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission will be administering upcoming safety forces uniformed examinations; and,

WHEREAS, the Executive Director of the Civil Service Commission will be contracting with individuals from around the country for performing certain phases of these examinations; and,

WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission will provide housing, transportation, meals, and meeting refreshments for these individuals; and,

WHEREAS, it is necessary that the Civil Service Commission establish a blanket certificate of funds for administering uniformed examinations of the Department of Safety for the preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; now, therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS

SECTION 1. That the Executive Director of the Civil Service Commission be and is hereby authorized to establish a blanket certificate of funds for the purpose of administering safety forces uniformed examinations.

SECTION 2. That the expenditure of $78,000.00 or so much thereof as may be needed is hereby authorized to be expended from the General Fund No. 010, Department 27-01, OCA Code 270165, Object Level One 03, Object Level Three 3336, to pay for housing, transportation, meals, meeting refreshments, printing, and any other costs incurred for these examinations.
