Explanation

Background:
This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Recreation and Parks Department to enter into contract with Tyevco, Inc. for the demolition and construction of improvements to Hanford Village Park. Improvements will include the removal of existing pavement and playground equipment which will be replaced with new playground equipment, half-court basketball, additional parking, an open shelter and walking paths. These park improvements were designed with extensive community input which included the Hanford Village Civic Association. One of the most important requests from the community was to improve access to the park which was separated from the neighborhood when I-70 was constructed. Through a coordinated effort with the Department of Public Service, a new pedestrian access will be created through the installation of a new path starting at the corner of Alum Creek Drive and Kent Street. The costs for this project will be $224,200.00 with a contingency of $22,400.00 for a total of $246,600.00.
