Explanation
1. BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a contract with DLZ Ohio, Inc. for professional services and services during construction for the Broadview Road 30-Inch Transmission Main project, CIP #690502-100002, in an amount up to $483,898.01.
The Division of Water is responsible for providing quality, reliable water for consumer use and adequate volume for fire protection. This project will help to meet these responsibilities. The Broadview 30-Inch Transmission Main is planned to meet future demands of the system, provide additional resilience in providing water quality, and provide a more reliable water system to our customers.
This contract is for engineering consulting services for the design of a water distribution transmission main that will extend from a 48-Inch Transmission Main in the North pressure district along Cherry Bottom Rd at the Broadview Rd intersection to a connection point in the City’s existing water distribution system, specifically the Morse pressure district.
All of the transmission main will be located inside the City of Columbus, specifically in the Rocky Fork-Blacklick - 33 Community.
TIMELINE: The duration of the initial contract for Phase 1 - Preliminary Design Services is 10 months and is expected to begin in September, 2023. Phase 2 - Detailed Design Services (Modification No. 1) is expected to have a duration of approximately 10 months. Phase 3 - Engineering Services during Construction (Modification No. 2) is expected to have a duration of approximately 12 months. May, 2026 is the estimated ending date of the agreement based on the total term.
ESTIMATED COST OF PROJECT: The original engineering agreement amount is $483,898.01. Two additional contract modifications are anticipated at this time.
