Explanation
Title
To honor and recognize Clintonville Wildcat Cheerleading for being selected to compete in the 2006 Americheer International Championships at Disney World.
Body
WHEREAS, Clintonville Wildcat Cheerleading began in 2004 with a group of Whetstone High School cheerleaders who were encouraged to start a competitive team by Whetstone Recreation Center Director Connie Terry, and
WHEREAS, Clintonville Wildcat Cheerleading has grown with the formation of senior and intermediate teams that are made up of 34 girls and 4 boys from middle and high schools across the city, and
WHEREAS, this year's teams have attended three competitions; the Thanks-Cheering Turkey Challenge at Fairfield High School in Cincinnati, the Columbus Recreation and Parks Cheer, Dance and Step Competition and the Americheer Regional held at Marysville High School where they won two first place trophies in the Junior Recreation and All-Star Senior Level 3 divisions, and first place medals in the Co-Ed Partner Stunt division, and
WHEREAS, the success at the Americheer Regional has earned the two squads and partner stunt pair invitations to the Americheer International Competition in Disney World March 14th to 19th 2006; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we applaud the members of the Clintonville Wildcat Cheerleading team on their success and wish them well as they represent the City of Columbus at the Americheer International Competition in Disney World.
