Explanation

This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Recreation and Parks Department to enter into contract with Schorr Architects, Inc. for the design of renovations to the existing clubhouse at Champions Golf Course.

Background: The work will include evaluating the condition of the existing facility and the cost to renovate or replace the clubhouse. The existing kitchen is currently not large enough to support golf outings which would help increase revenue for the course as well as provide opportunities for future events at the course. This project will further the mission of the Recreation and Parks Master Plan by updating an existing facility to help enhance the experience of the customer; as well as, potentially improve the revenue of the golf course and reduce overall building maintenance needs.

After evaluation by the consultants, it was deemed more economically feasible to demolition and replace the building instead of remodeling the existing structure. The new structure will be more energy efficient as well as easier to monitor for the staff creating a safer environment for the public.
