To acknowledge and recognize the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) of Ohio as they celebrate their 10th Anniversary and host the annual banquet with the theme, Let the Conversation Begin.
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, CAIR-Ohio was established in 1998 to assist in the efforts to promote greater understanding of Islam, empower the 150,000 American Muslims living in Ohio, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding; and
 
WHEREAS, CAIR-Ohio is committed to educating the public and public officials on important Muslim values such as emphasis on strong families, improving neighborhoods and protecting civil liberties of all residents so that there may be greater harmony and a better America; and
 
WHEREAS, CAIR-Ohio has worked with public officials to find common ground on public policy issues and as a result has built strong positive relationships with policymakers who often seek CAIR-Ohio out to gain insight on issues affecting the Muslim community; and
 
WHEREAS, CAIR-Ohio continues its legacy of service to our community by celebrating its 10 year Anniversary with the theme, "Let the Conversation Begin", encouraging dialogue, protecting civil liberties and building coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
 
That we do hereby recognize, honor, and celebrate the contributions of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Ohio and do hereby acknowledge them as they host their 10th Anniversary Banquet and we extend best wishes for continued success.
