Explanation

Background:
This ordinance will authorize the Director of Finance to allow the Davis Discovery Center, 549 Franklin Park Avenue, to exchange with Actors Summer Theater, 18 used Exterior Black Par Can lighting instruments (model #PAR 56/64) for 18 new Interior Black Par Can lighting instruments (model #PAR 64). Additionally, this ordinance will waive the provisions of the City Code regarding the Sale of City Personal Property.

The used lighting instruments were acquired by the City at the time of the purchase of the Davis Discovery Center from Players Theater in 1993 and were used at that time.

Emergency action is requested as new lights are needed as soon as possible for program productions.

Title

To authorize the Director of Finance to allow the Davis Discovery Center to exchange, with the Actors Summer Theater, 18 used exterior lighting instruments for 18 new interior lighting instruments, to waive the provisions of the City Code regarding the Sale of City Personal Property, and to declare an emergency.

Body

WHEREAS, the City wishes to allow the exchange of 18 used exterior lighting instruments for 18 new interior lighting instruments between the Davis Discovery Center and the Actors Summer Theater; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that is it immediately necessary to authorize this exchange for the preservation of public health, peace, property and safety to allow their use in program productions; now, therefore

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

SECTION 1. That the Director of Finance be and he is hereby authorized to allow the Davis Discovery Center to exchange 18 used Exterior Black Par Can lighting instruments for 18 new Interior Black Par Can lighting instruments with the Actors Summer Theater.
