To Recognize and Celebrate Humphrey Kweminyi as the 2024 Recipient of Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio’s New Attorney Pro Bono Award.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, Humphrey Kweminyi is the 2024 recipient of Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio’s New Attorney Pro Bono Award; and

 

WHEREAS, Humphrey earned his License en Droit (LL.B) and Master’s degree in International Law from the University of Yaoundé. He passed the Cameroon Bar in 2014 and immigrated to the United States later that year, then received his JD at Capital University Law School in 2021; and

 

WHEREAS, Humphrey was an active volunteer with LASCO’s Tenant Advocacy Project (TAP) at eviction court and has also joined the Pro Bono Bankruptcy Program, assisting clients navigating life-altering crises; and

 

WHEREAS, As an associate at Kegler Brown + Ritter, Humphrey focuses on business, real estate, and finance law while maintaining active roles on the boards of LASCO, Directions for Youth & Families, and The John Mercer Langston Bar Association; and

 

WHEREAS, Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio, in conjunction with the Ohio Poverty Law Center, is committed to searching out the patterns, causes of, and solutions to the repetitive and fundamental legal problems facing low-income Ohioans and pursuing the legal recourse needed to address those problems; and

 

WHEREAS, Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio is comprised of advocates who are passionate about providing legal services to low-income individuals, and it is an honor and a privilege to work with an organization that is committed to making the daily lives of Columbus residents better - a fact exemplified by the service of people such as Humphrey Kweminyi; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council recognizes and celebrates Humphrey Kweminyi as the 2024 Recipient of Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio’s New Attorney Pro Bono Award.
