Title
 
To recognize Children's Hospital on the recent hiring of its 5000th employee, a milestone ranking the hospital one of the top 20 largest employers in Columbus.
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, Columbus Children's Hospital, founded by a determined group of women in 1892 as a local charity to serve a dozen very ill children, has matured into a health care system that spans the Midwest as one of its preferred providers of pediatric health care; and
 
WHEREAS, Children's Hospital today is ranked as one of the nation's ten largest children's hospitals and pediatric research centers, with nearly 700,000 patient visits every year; and
 
WHEREAS, Children's Hospital is one of the nation's most progressive and sophisticated health care institutions, with specialty areas including surgery, heart transplant/cardiac care, cancer, trauma, rehabilitation, dialysis, bone marrow transplant, neurosciences and research; and
 
WHEREAS, Brooke Harland, a pediatric cardiac sonographer in the hospital's Cardiology Clinic, represents the 5000th employee, ranking the hospital as one of the top 20 largest employers in Columbus; now, therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby recognize Children's Hospital on the recent hiring of its 5000th employee, and celebrate this milestone that earns the hospital a ranking of one of the top 20 largest employers in Columbus.
