Title
 
To honor and recognize Mr. Samuel (Sam) Gresham, Jr. for over 20 years of dedicated service to the Columbus Urban League on this 28th day of September, 2005.
 
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Gresham has dedicated his life to one of service and the relentless pursuit of freedom and justice for all; and
 
WHEREAS, Sam answered the call to servant leadership by serving the Columbus Urban League for more than 20 years, where he established a reputation as a fierce advocate for ending racism through education, economic and social progress; and
 
WHEREAS, he served our community at the helm of the Urban League by initiating programs such as the Community Computer Center, the Parent Information Resource Centers, and educational programs to help the community heal families dealing with AIDS; and.
WHEREAS, his service to the City of Columbus has distinguished him as an American Patriot.  His tenacity in championing the causes of our most vulnerable citizens and giving a voice to those who might otherwise remain voiceless will continue as his legacy and provide an example for others to follow; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby pay tribute to the work of Mr. Samuel (Sam) Gresham, Jr., a truly honorable man.
