To Honor, Recognize, and Celebrate the Life of Jamie Freise and to extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, Jamie (Francis James) Freise was born on March 12th, 1976, and passed away on April 30th, 2025 at the age of 49; and

 

WHEREAS, born in Killeen, Texas, Jamie spent a few years as a child in Wurzburg, Germany where his dad was stationed before moving to Des Moines, Iowa. After college, Jamie moved to Columbus, Ohio; and

 

WHEREAS, as a dedicated city planner for the City of Columbus, Jamie has positively shaped the city he loved so much, and left an indelible imprint on the cityscape and on the hearts of those who knew him; and

 

WHEREAS, in his free time, Jamie was an avid skiier. He mastered the slopes of many mountains in the U.S., and Canada and as far as Valle Nevado. Jamie was also passionate about any type of trivia, as his knowledge of all subjects seemed neverending; and

 

WHEREAS, a dependable friend to all, Jamie’s memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him: Partner, Amy Hargus; Family & blended family: Meghan Freise, Michael Freise, Rylee Freise, Murphy Freise, Henry Smith, Ave Lindon, Edie Freise (Joe Butler, Pete Butler, Keith Butler and their families). He is preceded in death by his parents, Kent Freise and Marie Lindon; and

 

WHEREAS, Jamie’s Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, Nov. 2, at Columbus Brewing Co. at the East Market. Jamie’s coworkers will also host a dedication ceremony, for which they will be planting a tree at the Franklin Park Conservatory in his memory; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That this Council honors and celebrates the life of Jamie Freise, a dedicated public servant, and extends our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
