Explanation
Background: The Columbus Computerized Traffic Signal System is the central computer system that coordinates traffic signals throughout the City of Columbus. The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission is conducting an assessment of the Columbus Computerized Traffic Signal System and developing a strategic plan for the future of this system. This assessment will evaluate the current hardware and software infrastructure to determine whether changes will be needed presently or in the future. The City of Columbus, Franklin County and COTA have agreed to fund a portion of this project. MORPC and COTA will contribute $280,000.00 to the total project cost of $300,000.00. The Transportation Division's contribution is $20,000.00. This ordinance authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into agreements with MORPC to conduct the assessment.
Emergency action is requested to reimburse MORPC for the completion of this study.
Fiscal Impact: Money needed for this project is available in the 1995, 1999 Voted Streets and Highways Fund.
Emergency action is requested so that the agreements can be established as soon as practical.
