To Recognize and Celebrate Carol Rieger-Taylor as the 2025 Recipient of the Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio’s In the Trenches Award

WHEREAS, Carol Rieger-Taylor is the 2025 recipient of the Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio’s In the Trenches Award; and
WHEREAS, Carol began her career at American Honda Motor Co., Inc in 2003 and steadily advanced through roles in compliance, procurement, and legal; and
WHEREAS, In 2016, Carol pursued her law degree through Capital Law School's evening program, graduating and passing the bar in 2020. Today, she applies her legal training in Honda’s Law & IP Unit and dedicates her time outside of work to her family and volunteering with LASCO’s pro bono clinics; and
WHEREAS, She has volunteered across a wide range of LASCO clinics, including expungement and wills clinics. Her approach is grounded in empathy and connection; and
WHEREAS, Carol assisted many clients with estate planning, record sealing, and driver's license reinstatement; and
WHEREAS, Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio, in conjunction with the Ohio Poverty Law Center, is committed to searching out the patterns, causes of, and solutions to the repetitive and fundamental legal problems facing low-income Ohioans and pursuing the legal recourse needed to address those problems; and
WHEREAS, Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio is comprised of advocates who are passionate about providing legal services to low-income individuals, and it is an honor and a privilege to work with an organization that is committed to making the daily lives of Columbus residents better - a fact exemplified by the service of people such as Carol Reiger-Taylor; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council recognizes and celebrates Carol Rieger-Taylor as the 2025 Recipient of the Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio’s In the Trenches Award.
