To Recognize and Celebrate Fran Frazier as a Distinguished Honoree of the 2024 Columbus Urban League Herstory Makers Event

WHEREAS, Thursday, May 16, 2024 is the Columbus Urban League’s annual Herstory Makers signature event, which will honor eight trailblazing women in Central Ohio; and
WHEREAS, Frances Curtis Frazier is a Community Engagement Consultant and Educator, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., who holds a B.S. cum laude in Special Education from Norfolk State University and a M.A. Degree in Learning Disabilities and Behavioral Disorders from The Ohio State University; and
WHEREAS, Fran’s area of expertise is her ability to present creative and insightful approaches to issues of high sensitivity and her work in the area of cultural competency in the workplace, cultural competency training and the creation of culturally specific programs in the Social Services field earned her the YWCA “Woman of Achievement Award” in Racial Justice; and
WHEREAS, For over 20 years Fran Frazier served as a Senior Associate for Everyday Democracy specializing in issues related to structural racism, racial and economic equity; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work in racial equity, Fran Frazier is an ardent advocate for marginalized women and girls; and
WHEREAS, As the Administrator for Cultural Initiatives for the Department of Human Services/Department of Job and Family Services Fran initiated several state-wide programs and regulatory procedures to support the cultural competency of child welfare and public welfare county agencies; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council recognizes and celebrates Fran Frazier as a Distinguished Honoree at the 2024 Columbus Urban League Herstory Makers Event.
