Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Board of Health has a need to make funds available to increase a contract with Nationwide Children's Hospital. The Columbus Health Department has been awarded an additional grant award of $80,997, for a total grant award in the amount of $5,236,485 in grant funds from the Ohio Department of Health to fund the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program for the period October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009. The Columbus Health Department has been designated as the primary grantee agency and administrator for all WIC programs in Franklin County. The grant funds awarded provide for an increased contract with Nationwide Children's Hospital for an additional amount not to exceed $4,796, and for an total contract not to exceed $460,293, for the operation of six WIC clinics at their facilities. The contract period is October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009.
Emergency action is requested in order to avoid any delays in providing program services.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Women, Infants and Children Program is entirely funded by the Ohio Department of Health. This program does not generate any revenue or require a City match.
