Explanation
Background:
This ordinance will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to modify a contract with LifeCare Alliance in connection with the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program. Supplemental funding was awarded to the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging from the Ohio Department of Aging.
This program provides vouchers for seniors to redeem with local organized farmers' markets.
This ordinance is contigent upon the passage of Ordinance No. 1300-2008 (supplemental appropriation).
Emergency action is requested so that vouchers can be distributed to eligible older adults who were put on a waiting list due to lack of funding.
Fiscal Impact:
$72,452.00 is required from the Recreation and Parks Grant fund.
This modification will increase the existing contract from $129,000.00 to $192,460.00.

Whereas, supplemental federal grant funding for the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program was awarded to the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging from the Ohio Department of Aging.
Whereas, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to modify said contract so that services can be expanded. Now, therefore;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to modify a contract in the amount of $72,452.00 with LifeCare Alliance for the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program for the period June 1, 2008 through October 31, 2008.
