Title: To authorize and direct the Director of Recreation and Parks to submit a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a Recreational Trails Program Grant for the Hoover Mudflats Boardwalk Phase II.

Explanation

 

Background:

This ordinance will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to submit a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a Recreational Trails Program grant.

 

This grant is for the Hoover Mudflats Boardwalk Phase II and would include 700 lineal feet of boardwalk from the end of the existing boardwalk.  It also includes the restoration of 535 lineal feet of trail along the abandoned Sunbury Road.

 

Fiscal Impact:

This is a 20% matching grant ($40,000.00) from the City of Columbus Capital Improvements Program dollars.  This application authorizes an application only and is not a commitment to expend City Funds.

To authorize and direct the Director of Recreation and Parks to submit a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a Recreational Trails Program Grant for the Hoover Mudflats Boardwalk Phase II.

 

Body

 

                     WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for a Recreational Trails Program grant; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks Department wishes to apply for said grant for improvements to the Hoover Mudflats Boardwalk Phase II; now, therefore

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

                     SECTION 1.   That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to submit a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Recreational Trails Program grant.

 

                     SECTION 2.   That this ordinance authorizes an application only and is not a commitment to expend City funds. 

 

                     SECTION 3.   TThat this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
