Explanation

Background:
Bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on February 7, 2006, for the Turnberry Irrigation Pump House Project, as follows:

Flowtronex Majority $93,541.73
EMI Majority $110,050.00

Project includes installation of an irrigation pump house at Turnberry Golf Course.

The Contract Compliance Number for Flowtronex is #75-2689750.

A contingency amount of $9,000.00 is being included in this project.

Emergency legislation is necessary so project can be completed prior to busy summer season.

Fiscal Impact:
$102,541.73 is required and budgeted in the Voted 1999/2004 Parks and Recreation Bond Fund to meet the financial obligation of this contract.

Body

WHEREAS, bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on February 7, 2006, and the contract for the Turnberry Irrigation Pump House Project will be awarded on the basis of the lowest and best responsive and responsible bidder; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary enter into contract so project can be completed prior to busy summer season; now, therefore

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

Section 1. That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into contract with Flowtronex for the Turnberry Irrigation Pump House Project, in accordance with plans and specifications on file in the Recreation and Parks Department.
