WHEREAS, BalletMet has been selected to perform at New York City's premier dance venue, The Joyce Theater, May 25-30, 2004; and

WHEREAS, BalletMet is one of only 18 companies selected from an international field of 66 applicants; and

WHEREAS, the honor of performing at The Joyce Theater comes only after a rigorous and highly competitive artistic review process; and

WHEREAS, The Joyce Theater is the country's premier venue dedicated solely to dance; and

WHEREAS, BalletMet is one of America's finest and most creative dance companies; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS

That this Council celebrates and recognizes the accomplishments and talent of BalletMet as they embark upon a six-day performance schedule at The Joyce Theater, one of the premier  dance venues in the world; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the week of May 24-30th is hereby declared as BalletMet week in Columbus.
