Explanation
This legislation authorizes the Administrative Judge of the Franklin County Municipal Court to accept a grant from the State of Ohio, Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for enhanced probationary services with two Probation Officers. This legislation also will appropriate $140,790.00 from the General Government Grant Fund. Grant monies will fund the salaries and benefits of two (2) Probation Officers in the Franklin County Municipal Court from July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004

EMERGENCY DECLARATION is requested in order for this new cycle of funding/appropriation to be in place by the first of July, 2003.

Body
WHEREAS, it is in the City's best interest to continue enhanced probationary services with two Probation Officers in the Franklin County Municipal Court, and,

WHEREAS, grant monies from the State of Ohio, Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in the amount of $140,790.00 are available to provide for salaries and benefits of the two (2) Probation Officers, and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operations of the City in that it is immediately necessary to accept the aforesaid grant for enhanced probationary services, and to appropriate the aforementioned funds, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; now, therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
