Explanation

Rezoning Application Z14-019

APPLICANT: Board of Trustees of Prairie Township; c/o Joseph E. Looby, Agent; Stantec Consulting Services; 1500 Lakeshore Drive; Columbus, Ohio 43204.

PROPOSED USE: Outdoor sports complex.

DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Approval (4-0) on July 10, 2014.

WESTLAND AREA COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Approval.

CITY DEPARTMENTS' RECOMMENDATION: Approval. The site is undeveloped and zoned in the LR, Limited Rural, NE, Neighborhood Edge, NG, Neighborhood General, and NC, Neighborhood Center Districts. The requested R, Rural District will allow the establishment of an outdoor sports complex that will include soccer, baseball and football fields, as well as preserve the site’s existing natural features. The request is consistent with the Westland Plan (1994) with respect to land use recommendations, and with the zoning and development patterns of the area.

WHEREAS, application #Z14-019 is on file with the Department of Building and Zoning Services requesting rezoning of 111± acres from LR, Limited Rural, NE, Neighborhood Edge, NG, Neighborhood General, and NC, Neighborhood Center Districts, to the R, Rural District; and

WHEREAS, the Development Commission recommends approval of said zoning change; and

WHEREAS, the Westland Area Commission recommends approval of said zoning change; and

WHEREAS, the City Departments recommend approval of said zoning change because the request is consistent with the Westland Plan (1994) with respect to land use recommendations, and with the zoning and development patterns of the area; now, therefore:
