Explanation

BACKGROUND:
This ordinance authorizes the City Treasurer to modify its existing contract with the Huntington Bank for the maintenance of an account necessary for the processing of credit card and other payments and payroll for the City of Columbus.

FISCAL IMPACT: No additional funding is required for this contract.

Emergency action is requested to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the city's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.

Title

To authorize the City Treasurer to modify and extend its contract for banking services with the Huntington Bank for the maintenance of accounts necessary to process credit cards and other payments and payroll for the City of Columbus; and to declare an emergency. ($0)

Body

WHEREAS, the City Treasurer wishes to modify its existing agreement with Huntington Bank for the maintenance of a bank account necessary for the processing of credit card and other payments and payroll for the City of Columbus by extending its end date to February 28, 2009; and

WHEREAS, as an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City Treasurer, as it is immediately necessary to modify the existing contract with the Huntington Bank for the provision of banking services which are necessary for the daily operation of normal business activities of the City of Columbus, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS

SECTION 1. That the City Treasurer is hereby authorized to modify and extend the contract with the Huntington Bank for the provision of banking services for the City of Columbus until February 28, 2009.
