Explanation

The purpose of this legislation is to authorize the Director of Public Utilities to enter into contract with K&W Roofing Inc. for the Sludge Concentration Building Roof Replacement at the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Bids were opened on November 26, 2003 and two (2) bids were received. An award was made to the lowest, responsive and responsible bidder.  A tabluation of the bids is as follows:

K&W Roofing Inc: $229,249.00

General Maintenance and Engineering Company; $275,998.00

SUPPLIER: K&W Roofing Inc (31-1606825)

FISCAL IMPACT: $252,173.90 is needed and budgeted for this project. The amount includes contingency money.

Title

To authorize the Director of Public Utilities to enter into contract with K&W Roofing Inc. for the Sludge Concentration Building Roof Replacement for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, to authorize the expenditure of $252,173.90 from the Sewerage System Operating Fund. ($252,173.90)

Body

WHEREAS, the Sludge Concentration Building at the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant is in need of a new roof, and,

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Utilities opened bids on November 26, 2003 for this project, and,

WHEREAS, K&W Roofing Inc. was the lowest, responsive and responsible bidder, now, therefore:

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

Section 1. That the Director of Public Utilities be and is hereby authorized to enter into contract with K&W Roofing Inc. for the Sludge Concentration Building Roof Replacement at the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage.

Section 2. That the expenditure of $252,173.90 or so much thereof as may be needed, be and the same hereby is authorized from the Sewerage System Operating Fund, Fund No. 650, OCA 604793, Object Level 1: 06, Object Level 03: 6624.

Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
