To honor, recognize and thank Ernie Hartong for his outstanding contributions to the Columbus community as President of the Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, the Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the promotion and continuing development of the Clintonville Area business community; and
WHEREAS, Ernie Hartong has served as Executive Director and President of the Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce since July 2002; and
WHEREAS, Ernie's passion and commitment to the development of local commerce and business has helped to make Clintonville a desirable place to work and live; and
WHEREAS, Ernie has nurtured beneficial relationships between the Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce, Clintonville Area Commission, the City of Columbus and local residents; and
WHEREAS, Ernie has demonstrated himself to be a professional and dedicated community leader through his abilities to build consensus, solve problems and get results; and
WHEREAS, Ernie led the Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce through the creation of programs such as "Cruise the Ville" and the Annual Chamber "Celebration Dinner" that help businesses grow and prosper; and
WHEREAS, Ernie's management style subscribed to the following truisms, "Don't shoot the messenger", "All politics is local" and "A bad day on the golf course, is better than a good day at the office."; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby honor, recognize and thank Ernie Hartong for his years of dedication and service to the Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce and the community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be presented to Ernie Hartong on the occasion of the 2009 Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce "Celebration Dinner".
