($20,000.00)
Explanation

BACKGROUND: The Columbus Health Department has been awarded a grant from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation. This ordinance is needed to accept and appropriate $20,000.00 in grant money to fund the Developing Weight Management Competency in Children and the Adults Who Impact Them program, for the period of January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004.

The Developing Weight Management Competency in Children and the Adults Who Impact Them program develops weight management competency in children and adults who impact them in clinical, faith-based, and child care settings.

This ordinance is submitted as an emergency so as to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible, given the grant start date of January 1, 2004. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.

FISCAL IMPACT: The program is subsidized by the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation and does not generate revenue. The program does require additional funding from the City and a grant which is budgeted and available.
