To honor and recognize Ms. TyKiah Wright's dedication to enriching the lives of people with disabilities.
 
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, in 2001 Ms. Wright established WrightChoice Inc., and has dedicated her life to building a bridge between resource & opportunity for minority students & students with disABILITIES; and
 
WHEREAS, WrightChoice, Inc. is the leading non-profit intern recruitment and diversity inclusion organization providing social and economic empowerment for minority students as well as students with disABILITIES; and
 
WHEREAS, WrightChoice consists of the Intern Program which is designed for college students with disabilities to complement their educational experience with on-the-job training, and the Good Business Training program which addresses diversity related training needs for employers, offering seminars focused on disability awareness, the use of technology in the workplace, and leadership; and
 
WHEREAS, Ms. Wright also oversees the Ohio High School/High Tech Program which helps youth with disabilities explore jobs in science, technology, and engineering; and
 
WHEREAS, Ms. Wright  was selected by a national advisory committee of The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) to receive the 2007 Paul G. Hearne/AAPD Leadership Award for emerging leaders with disabilities; and
 
WHEREAS, October is recognized as "National Disability Employment Awareness Month"; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That the City Council of Columbus, Ohio does hereby honor and recognize TyKiah Wright's outstanding dedication, hard work and service to youth and adults with disabilities and proclaims October "National Disability Employment Awareness Month" in the City of Columbus.
