Explanation

Background: This legislation authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into a $6,000.00 Guaranteed Maximum Cost Agreement with the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) for streetscape improvements within the public right-of-way adjacent to the YMCA Building located at the northeast corner of Front & Long Streets. Streetscape improvements include the installation of eight concrete planters adjacent to the YMCA Building, four planters on Long Street and four planters on Front Street. These improvements will enhance the appearance of the public pedestrian environment. The YMCA, CC# 314379594, will plant and maintain the planters after installation. The Development Department has identified and negotiated this Agreement and the Public Service Department will enter into contract and administer the Agreement.

Fiscal Impact: This expense is budgeted in the 1995, 1999, 2004 Voted Streets and Highways Fund, Fund 704, Downtown Streetscape project.

WHEREAS, the need exists to enter into a Guaranteed Maximum Cost Agreement for streetscape improvements at the northeast corner of Front Street and Long Street, and

WHEREAS, this project will provide improvements to the public right-of-way that meet or exceed the standards of the Downtown Streetscape Plan, and

WHEREAS, this streetscape project will enhance the appearance of the pedestrian environment and complement the adjacent YMCA Building, now, therefore;
