Explanation
BACKGROUND:

Need: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Safety to modify a contract with ACS State & Local Solutions in the amount of $1,000,000.00 for billing and collection services as needed for the Division of Fire's Third Party EMS Reimbursement Program, initiated via Ordinance #1184-02, passed July 22, 2002.

Contract Compliance: 131996647

Emergency Designation: Emergency action is requested so that these services can continue uninterrupted through 2006.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Budgeted Amount: Funds are available through the Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire budget for 2006; the Division of Fire's General Fund Budget contains funds specifically budgeted for this purpose.

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus has implemented a Third Party EMS Reimbursement Program via ordinance 1184-02, passed July 22, 2002; and

WHEREAS, this modification will provide funding for the increase and extension of the present contract through it's expiration; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Division of Fire, Department of Public Safety in that it is immediately necessary to modify a contract ACS State & Local Solutions for billing and collection services as needed for the Division of Fire's Third Party EMS Reimbursement Program to maintain necessary services, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; Now, therefore
