To honor and recognize the student participants in the Eighth Annual High School "Service Above Self" Fair, and to congratulate Eastmoor Academy and its Impact Team for conducting the Overall Most Exemplary Project of the fair.
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, each year, Columbus Rotary partners with Columbus City Schools and HandsOn Central Ohio to sponsor the High School "Service Above Self" Fair, which honors students from Columbus City Schools for their service to the community; and
 
WHEREAS, students work individually and in groups at each school to design and implement service projects which address many of our community's most pressing issues and challenges, including hunger, homelessness, access to education, child abuse, teenage pregnancy, and many others; and
 
WHEREAS, on May 9, 2011, the Eighth Annual High School "Service Above Self" Fair recognized sixty-seven projects created by students from twenty-three high schools; and
 
WHEREAS, among the many extraordinary projects featured at the fair was Eastmoor Academy's Year of the Homeless, which was conducted by its Impact Team and selected the Overall Most Exemplary Project of the fair; and
 
WHEREAS, this project and the others exhibited at the High School "Service Above Self" Fair represent the very best values and ideals of our city, and are a tribute to the spirit of service that guides the work of Columbus City Schools, Columbus Rotary, and HandsOn Central Ohio; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council hereby honors and recognizes the student participants in the Eighth Annual High School "Service Above Self" Fair, congratulates Eastmoor Academy and its Impact Team on receiving recognition for the Overall Most Exemplary Project of the fair, and thanks Columbus Rotary, Columbus City Schools, and HandsOn Central Ohio for giving our students the opportunity to serve their communities.
