Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Board of Health has been awarded additional grant funds from the Ohio Department of Health for the Cardiovascular Health grant program in the amount of $3,062.25. These additional funds will allow for conference and training monies to support the objectives of the Cardiovascular Health program in central Ohio. The purpose of this legislation is to accept and appropriate these funds for the period November 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003. The primary objective of the Cardiovascular Health program is to improve the cardiovascular health of Columbus and Franklin County residents.
This ordinance is submitted as an emergency so as to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Cardiovascular Health program is entirely funded by the Ohio Department of Health. This program does not generate revenue or require a City match.

To authorize and direct the Board of Health to accept grant funds from the Ohio Department of Health in the amount of $3,062.25, to authorize the appropriation of
$3,062.25 from the Health Department Grants Fund, and to declare an emergency. ($3,062.25)

WHEREAS, $3,062.25 in additional grant funds have been made available through the Ohio Department of Health for the Cardiovascular Health grant program for the period of November 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to accept and appropriate these funds from the Ohio Department of Health for the continued support of the Cardiovascular Health program; and,
