Explanation

The Department of Public Utilities solicited 123 vendors for the purchase of custodial services (SA004852). Of those solicited, 28 had certified MBR/M1A status, 1 had V1/M1A status, 1 had HL1 status and 3 had certified F1 status. On March 28, 2013, the Department of Public Utilities received and opened eleven bids, 4 had certified MBR/M1A status. The lowest responsive and responsible and best bid was Keswick Enterprises, LLC dba Corvus Janitorial Systems, Inc. at $175,624.80. The original contract (EL014542) was for twelve (12) months of custodial service as defined in Solicitation SA004852. Subject to mutual agreement, the period covered by the ensuing contract, under the same terms and conditions herein can be extended by contract modification with consecutive, annual contracts for a period of three years. This ordinance provides for the first (1) of three (3) possible contract extensions/modifications.

1. Amount of additional funds: Total amount of additional funds needed for this contract modification is ADD $175,624.80. Total contract amount including this modification is $351,249.60.

2. Reason additional funds were not foreseen: The need for additional funds was known at the time of the initial contract. The original solicitation (SA004852) allowed three (3) contract extensions, subject to mutual agreement, approval by City Council and the City Auditor.
