Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with Artway to operate as a fiscal agent in support of the Polymath Foundation’s Southside Community Day and Erica Wheeler Basketball Camp.

Southside Community Day’s Back to School Event will provide backpacks filled with school supplies for children of the Southside of Columbus. The Polymath Foundation will organize educational activities and resources for the community. The Erica Wheeler Basketball Camp is a basketball camp for local youth in partnership with Erica Wheeler from the Indiana Fever.

Emergency action is necessary to ensure that funding is available so that students can benefit from summer programming opportunities.

Fiscal Impact: Funding is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund.

WHEREAS, Artway Inc. is a non-profit organization in Columbus that advocates for the arts and supports communities that are underrepresented in the arts; and

WHEREAS, Artway is prepared to serve as a fiscal agent in support of the Polymath Foundation’s Southside Community Day and Erica Wheeler Basketball Camp which will enhance community engagement through events and educational programs; and

WHEREAS, the Polymath Foundation’s Southside Community Day and Erica Wheeler Basketball Camp seeks to create a positive impact on the overall well-being of Southside residents; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Clerk's Office in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the Clerk to provide upfront funding by entering into a grant agreement with Artway Inc. to serve as a fiscal agent in ...
