Explanation

Background:
Bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on June 27, 2006, for the 2006 Playgrounds Improvements, as follows:

Emergency legislation is necessary to allow material to be ordered and arrive prior to fall installation.

Fiscal Impact:
$376,746.00 is required and budgeted in the Voted 1999/2004 Parks and Recreation Bond Fund to meet the financial obligation of this contract.

WHEREAS, bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on June 27, 2006, and the contract for the 2006 Playground Improvements will be awarded on the basis of the lowest and best responsive and responsible bidder; now, therefore

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to enter into contract to enable receipt of material prior to fall installation; now, therefore

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
