To declare the week of April 13 through 19, 2008 as National Public-Safety Telecommunications Week in the City of Columbus.

WHEREAS, when an emergency occurs the prompt response of police officers, firefighters and paramedics is critical to the protection of life and preservation of property; and
WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators are the primary contact our citizens have with emergency services, and
WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators of the City of Columbus have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires and treatment of patients; and
WHEREAS, each dispatcher has exhibited compassion, understanding and professionalism during the performance of their job in the past year; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we do hereby declare the week of April 13 through 19, 2008 to be National Public-Safety Telecommunications Week in the City of Columbus, in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep our city and citizens safe.
