To honor, recognize, and celebrate the life of the Charisse D. Wilkins, 1988-2025

Body

WHEREAS, Charisse Danielle Wilkins was born on June 18, 1988, in Houston, Texas, to Ronald Cleveland Wilkins and Frances Wilkins, and was affectionately known as “Ressie Cup” by her family for her joyful and kind-hearted spirit; and

WHEREAS, Charisse’s educational journey was marked by her relentless pursuit of excellence, as she graduated Valedictorian from East High School in Columbus, Ohio, and went on to earn a degree in Sports Medicine from Howard University; and

WHEREAS, Charisse was known for her unwavering dedication to service and her strong sense of community, inspiring others with her generosity and ability to bring people together through meaningful connections, all while maintaining a joyful spirit and a heartwarming smile; and
WHEREAS, Charisse’s professional journey was characterized by a deep commitment to empowering others, from her work with Teach for America teaching middle school students in Houston, Texas, to her impactful role as Program Manager at Year Up in San Francisco, where she helped young adults transition into the corporate workforce and build their confidence; and
WHEREAS, Charisse returned to higher education to pursue dual master’s degrees in Business Administration and Public Policy at the University of Michigan, with a vision to use her education to better serve her community through leadership, advocacy, and mentorship; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus extends its sincere condolences to the friends and family of Charisse Wilkins, including her mother, Frances Wilkins; her siblings, Courtney, Ahri, Daryll, Lamar, Christopher, and Brittany; her bonus parents and grandmother, Lanny, Terry and Patricia Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God-children, and friends who cherish her memory now, therefore,
