Explanation
BACKGROUND: In order to effectively manage patients of the Columbus Public Health (CPH), it is necessary to provide specialized physician services. This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to enter into a contract with Ohio State University Physicians, Inc., in the amount of $62,400.00.
The Ohio State University Physicians, Inc. (OSUP) provides outpatient care throughout Central Ohio and are the approved practice plan for The Ohio State University College of Medicine designated by the University Board of Trustees. Ohio State University Physicians, Inc. contractor compliance number is CC-005200.
Columbus Public Health has a need for physician services specializing in infectious disease, maternal-child health, and emergency preparedness/outbreak response including infectious disease consultation and other coverage as needed for our Sexual Health and Wellness Center.
There is an immediate need for the continuation of physician services to allow for expedited consultation and direct admit of patients to The Ohio State University Medical Center for patients of CPH Clinics. For this reason, it is requested that the competitive bidding provisions outlined in Chapter 329.18 of the Columbus City Code be waived for this contract.
FISCAL IMPACT: The amount of $62,400.00 is budgeted in the Health Special Revenue Fund for physician services for Columbus Public Health. This contract is contingent on Ord. No. 3012-2023. ($62,400.00)

To authorize the Board of Health to enter into a contract with the Ohio State University Physicians, Inc., for physician services for the Columbus Public Health Clinics for the period of February 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025; to waive competitive bidding requirements; to authorize the expenditure of $62,400.00 from the Health Special Revenue Fund to pay the costs thereof; and to declare an emergency.
